Situated in the foothills of the Massif Central between the small towns of Montsalvy and Espalion, nestles one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of South West France.
At its heart, the enchanting small town of Entraygues sur Truyere, will offer you the chance to ' step back in time ' and live life at a gentler pace. It is here that the rivers Lot and Truyere converge, overlooked by its 12th century Chateau. Here you can picnic or just sit by the river, which in the evening as the sun sets, is the most peaceful of spots.
The town boasts many restaurants and cafes with a good variety of both local and traditional French cuisine. There is a bank, post office, a tourist information office, a pottery and a good selection of shops.
The weekly market is on Friday morning. In addition during July and August, there is a Wednesday evening artisans market where a wide selection of local food is available to buy and eat under the trees in the village square, whilst listening to musical entertainment.
For the more energetic holiday maker, Entraygues has a canoe centre, tennis courts and within easy reach a nine hole golf course. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, birdwatching or just having a ' get away from it all ' holiday.
From the town, the roads divide to take you through the Lot Vallee, the Lot Gorges or the Gorges of the Truyere. Each road will take you to magical villages and the chance to drive high into the hills offering the most beautiful of views. Within 30 minutes by car are both Estaing and Espalion, the former being one of the 'Plus beaux villages of France'.
Further afield but still within Aveyron is the breathtaking Viaduc du Millau, currently the worlds highest bridge, the Gorge du Tarn and the town of Millau all worth a visit.
